Haiti – Presidential and parliamentary elections (November 20, 2016)

France welcomes the smooth conduct of voting on November 20 and the efforts of the
Haitian authorities to ensure that the entire population, including in the regions affected by Hurricane Matthew, were able to go the polls in a calm and transparent manner.

Pending the publication of the results, France calls on all political actors to comply with electoral law.

Haiti held presidential and parliamentary elections, the smooth conduct of which is crucial in order to restore the institutional and political stability needed to ensure the country’s recovery.

France welcomes the measures taken to hold free, transparent and inclusive elections, despite Hurricane Matthew.

We hope that the elections will take place in an atmosphere of calm.

France is lending its support to the Organization of American States Electoral Observation Mission and is providing it with 10 observers.
